Did you know that stucco is simply what you call plaster that is used on the exterior of a structure? Plaster goes on the inside. Stucco exterior has a long history and is now used all over the world. The Greeks and Romans used a mixture of marble dust and water to make a sort of plaster to artistically embellish walls and other things. Stucco and plaster came to be made from lime, sand, and water, and it has since evolved to be made with Portland cement and water and sometimes sand.
